| This mound of rocks in California's Alabama Hills drew my eye. I don't know if I saw it then, but now it reminds me of a Stegosaurus, a fitting emblem of a place with such a primordial feel. It was late in the day so that the warm light of approaching sunset was on the distant mountains. The mound itself had already lost the sun and was in the blue light of shadow, so I used a mild orange warming filter to restore the rocks more nearly to their daylight color. |
