El Capitan is one huge monolith of granite, soaring almost 3,000' above the floor of Yosemite Valley. It is one of the major icons of the Park. It is so high that it forms its own micro-climate: these clouds are forming only around the crest of El Cap. Morning light tinges them with pink and yellow hues as the direct light just begins to strike the cliff face. |
