Foliage Overhanging the Cedar River

(order ID # CT35-02587)

The Cedar River in southeast Iowa is a lovely river. I used to canoe on it on college summer breaks. One place to avoid novice canoeing, however, is Palisades-Kepler State Park, where a shelf in the river bed causes a beautiful cascade. I visited the park this spring and captured many images of the waterfall, then found a quieter part of the park with trees overhanging the slow river. I liked the shady lazy feel of the indolent branches relaxing their day away. It made me want to kick back in a lawn chair with a cold drink to hand. I tried to capture that relaxed, drowsy summer feel in this photograph.
