I enjoy hanging this photograph in my exhibitions, for it never fails that someone will kindheartedly inform me that my print is hanging upside down. I enjoy pictures that play with one's mind.
I took this photo at dawn, deliberately cropping out the line of trees on the lip of the lake basin. This left only their reflections, upside down, to create ambiguity in the scene. The only clue to the true orientation of the shot is the snippet of shoreline in the upper right. The mist rising from the water only accentuates the mysterious nature of this image.
