I was on my way elsewhere when I came upon this field with three beautiful horses cavorting in it. I stopped my truck and clambered up to my roof rack shooting platform for a better view. The horses got suddenly skittish and hid behind a thicket, but the farmer was out mowing the pasture and kindly shooed them back into view for me. I shot many portraits of them by ones, twos, and threes, but my favorite is this one where the boldest came over to check me out ... but still felt the need to peer through the branches of a protective intervening tree.
(When I reached my original destination the photo possibilities turned out to be nil. In photography, as in life, one must be constantly aware on the journey and not focus too much on the goal.)
