| Photographically I usually simply react to what I find in my wanderings, but this image is the result of a rare instance when I was hunting for a specific previsualized image. I wanted a picture of colorful foliage overhanging a stream, and I finally found it while crossing tiny Moose River in northeastern Vermont. The bridge was simple, made of 4 x 4 wood slats and lacking a rail. To get the image I wanted I had to set up my tripod on adjacent slats, less than a foot apart, and reach it out cantilevered over the edge. It's a miracle I didn't fall in, much less that I got a sharp image at a 1/4 second shutter speed. |
