As many do, I love Mono Lake in California. One of my favorite places to take pictures at Mono Lake is Black Point, reached by an obscure dusty road. A scramble up a hillside gives one altitude to get a good vista of the lake. I knew when and where the moon would rise, so I waited for it to appear to the left of haunting Negit Island. There was just enough twilight left to capture the lake and foreground with visible detail. I shot this picture on 35 mm film, then cropped to the panoramic format to eliminate the empty expanse of blue sky. |
